WHO WE ARE
At K’óoben, food is our way of bringing people together. Rooted in our Mexican heritage and inspired by the abundance of the Coachella Valley, every dish we serve is a reflection of culture, community, and care. We partner with local farms and growers to highlight the freshest ingredients of the season, turning them into experiences that are meant to be shared. Whether it is a private dinner in your home or a wedding surrounded by loved ones, our passion is creating meals that feel both unforgettable and deeply personal.
Meet Our Chef
Chef Tenoch Sanchez grew up in Mexicali surrounded by family, tradition, and the joy of cooking together. From a young age, he found himself in the kitchen every day, preparing breakfast for his family and learning from his grandmother, mother, and aunts. His father also played a key role in shaping his path. Deeply involved in the local agriculture scene, he often brought Tenoch along to the farms on weekends, where he learned firsthand about planting, harvesting, and the care that goes into quality ingredients. Those early experiences gave him a lasting respect for food, from the soil to the table.
Although largely self taught, Chef Tenoch has dedicated his life to mastering his craft, drawing inspiration from Food Network, countless cookbooks, and years of study and experimentation. He went on to become Head Chef at Desert Dine, where he cooked for luxury brands, global companies, and high profile private clients. In 2024, he launched Kooben Catering & Events to bring his own vision of hospitality to life.
His cooking style blends creativity with tradition, honoring the roots of Mexican gastronomy while embracing modern techniques and global influences. Whether preparing his signature Raíces tasting menu or designing a wedding feast, his goal is to show that Mexican cuisine can be as elevated, refined, and celebrated as any in the world.
Beyond the kitchen, Tenoch is an Ironman triathlete and former filmmaker, passions that fuel both the discipline and creativity he brings to every plate. For him, cooking is more than food. It is community, culture, and unforgettable moments shared around the table.
